Now That’s Funked Up

A quick shot of the scene last night at Amos’ Southend where George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic turned the place inside out. George wasn’t the spryest cat on stage, but he still managed to show everyone how to tear one roof off one sucka.

Cultivating My Inner Geek

Star Trek – 82 Episodes
Star Trek The Next Generation – 178 Episodes
Star Trek Voyager -168 Episodes
Star Trek Enterprise – 97 Episodes

I don’t think I have seen an episode of any of them. But they are all on Netflix.

Challenge accepted.

Talib Onstage

A couple of weeks back I made it out to Amos’ for Talib Kweli’s show. It barely took up half of Amos’s capacity (much of the upper level remained closed), but it made for a good show nonetheless.

The third snow of the winter. Unheard of for Charlotte.

Been Quiet Around Here

Haven’t been coming by to provide updates for some time. Haven’t had a lot going on, but also just have taken the time. I need to fix that.

Charlotte Bobcats

It’s basketball season again. For me that means another season of tickets to the Charlotte Bobcats. Most of the time it isn’t the best basketball, but some nights they surprise you.

Where the Music’s At

SomaFM commercial free internet radio

Just a quick shout out to a music site that I have been visiting off and on for some time now. SomaFM has got to be one of the best (if not the best) for discovering entirely new music that you otherwise would not be turned on to.

It’s a streaming service that has a few channels that span any number of genres. Some of my faves:

Lush: Sensuous and mellow vocals, mostly female, with an electronic influence.

Secret Agent: The soundtrack for your stylish, mysterious, dangerous life. For Spies and PIs too!

Groove Salad: A nicely chilled plate of ambient beats and grooves.

Tongue-in-cheek, sure. But SOLID music. And definitely much better than what your local radio station is pumping out.

Hello world!

This is the first post that’s created whenever you setup a blog, and I just can find it in me to delete it.
